Updated Email Integration Features for Salesforce – Summer ’25 Release

The Salesforce Summer ‘25 Release includes some helpful updates to email integration tools. Here’s a summary of three new features worth noting.

Fine-Tune Email Associations When Using Sync Email as Salesforce Activity

What: If you have Sync Email as Salesforce Activity enabled, Einstein Activity Capture automatically works with Outlook and Gmail to log email data. With this update, users can now override the suggested record associations to give emails more meaningful CRM context and improve analytics. Users can also manually associate messages and events that weren’t captured automatically.

Where: Lightning Experience in Starter, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Einstein 1 Sales Edition editions. Also available if you have the Einstein for Sales, Sales Engagement, or Revenue Intelligence add-ons.

Note: Sync Email as Salesforce Activity must be enabled in Einstein Activity Capture for this feature to work.

How: While composing an email, use the side panel to update the record associations. Once your message is ready, click Send.

Decipher Attached Email Messages in Outlook More Efficiently

What:  This update applies to Outlook users only.  Previously, when an email with attachments was logged into Salesforce, the attachment name was fairly generic.  Now, Salesforce applies a clearer naming convention: the file name uses the first 30 characters of the attached email’s subject, followed by a counter.

Where: Applies to all editions of Lightning Experience.

Example: An attached email with the subject “Q4 Strategy Meeting Notes April 20, 2025” will now appear as: Q4_Strategy_Meeting_Notes_Apri_1.eml

If the attached email has no subject, the old naming convention still applies (e.g., Attachment_1.eml).

Control Email Logging and Tracking in Email Integrations

What:  If your org uses Inbox or has Sync Email as Salesforce Activity enabled in Einstein Activity Capture, users are now required to log emails in order to track them. To make this easier, Salesforce has updated the email side panel with a new Log and Track Email section that combines both actions. Previously, email tracking was in a separate component and didn’t require logging.

Where: Lightning Experience in Starter, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Einstein 1 Sales Edition editions. Also available if you have the Einstein for Sales, Sales Engagement, or Revenue Intelligence add-ons.

  • Inbox is available in Lightning Experience. Some features are available with Sales Cloud and included in Starter, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited editions. Full functionality is available with Inbox, Sales Engagement, or Sales Cloud Einstein.
  • Sync Email as Salesforce Activity is available in Lightning Experience in Starter, Professional, Enterprise, Unlimited, and Einstein 1 Sales Edition editions. Also available with the Einstein for Sales, Sales Engagement, or Revenue Intelligence add-ons. The Sync Email as Salesforce Activity feature must be enabled in Einstein Activity Capture.

Who: This feature is enabled automatically if you start email sync in Einstein Activity Capture for the first time and don’t use Salesforce Inbox. See Salesforce Help for more prerequisites.

How: To track an email, it must be logged.

Click the “Log on Send” toggle to on (1) in order to automatically log the email. In order to track an email click the “Email Tracking” toggle to on.

(2) Email Tracking Card (read-only) indicates the default tracking setting.
